A wolf who’s baffling a Dutch territory… and a warning of his places of influence.

The authorities in the Netherlands issued an urgent warning of the need to avoid forests in the centre of the country, following several “irritating” incidents caused by a wolf.

According to the British newspaper Guardian, the recent incident occurred on Wednesday morning, when a “big animal” believed to be a wolf faced a child near the village of Osterlitz, some 16 kilometres east of Utrecht.

The child was not injured in this incident, but a young girl who was on a picnic after school was bitten 10 days ago in the same area, and DNA tests confirmed that the wolf itself was the cause.
The area is called the “Otrecht Ridge Hills,” a dense forest that has received considerable interest from hikers, bikers and runners.
According to a statement issued late on Wednesday, “Ottrich County calls on all visitors to be very careful when visiting the Utrecht Ridge Hills area. The urgent advice is not to visit these forests with children.”

In early July, a woman reported the death of her dog in a wolf attack, and a statement stated: “It is seriously considered the same wolf who has already been involved in previous incidents involving the girl and the child.

Wolves first appeared in the Netherlands in 2015 after 150 years of absence, dozens of which have since been monitored, but these animals continue to avoid human beings in general.
