Photos published on the internet in recent hours showed a crocodile in the pool of a luxury hotel in northeastern Australia, while guests were relaxing under the sun just a few meters away.

A video posted on TikTok showed the small crocodile lying at the bottom of the pool at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas.

In the background, the video recorder named Lisa Keller can be heard saying, “I don’t want to alarm anyone, but there’s a crocodile in the Sheraton pool.”

You approached the pool, where tourists can be seen relaxing on chairs around the pool.

She pointed out that the guests were not much affected by the unexpected visitor, saying, “No one cares” about the crocodile’s presence.

The circulating video images on social media match the hotel images as displayed on its website.

Joseph Amiriou, the hotel manager, said the crocodile was spotted early Saturday morning.

Amiryu later indicated that the pool area was evacuated until Queensland wildlife officials removed him from the location in the afternoon.

The game wardens moved the animal and put up warning signs about the presence of crocodiles in the area, according to a spokesperson for the Australian Department of the Environment.

The hotel manager said, “The guests and the small animal have never been in the pool at the same time.”

Estimates indicate that more than one hundred thousand saltwater crocodiles, in addition to freshwater crocodiles, which are considered less aggressive, live in northern Australia.

And it has not been determined to which of these two types the crocodile in question belongs.
