Six-Legged Dog Gets New Life After Being Abandoned
Ariel, the six-legged bitch, lived an inspiring story full of challenges and hope.
Last October, a six-legged little dog named Ariel became an unexpected star, with the headlines of the world’s newspapers coming out of a supermarket in Pembrokeshire, in South West Wales.
At only 11 weeks of age, Ariel was suffering from obvious deformities in her rear legs, which led to her formation as a mermaid’s tail.
In January 2024, Ariel underwent surgery to remove excess limbs after Greenacres Rescue was able to raise thousands of dollars to pay for the process that changed her life.
Despite the challenges that she faced at the beginning of her life, the different bitch, named after the character of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” was finally able to find a warm and loving home to start a new life.
Ollie Bird and Emma Mary Webster adopted Ariel after suddenly losing Peben, who was their beloved.
Spouses, who live in Freshwater West and who train people with special needs in surfing, describe the great void they felt in their lives after the death of Peben.
Emma Marie says, “We felt so empty because there really wasn’t a dog in the house.”
